A folding saw that closes into its own handle, so it rides safely in a rucksack, a garden bag or a vehicle boot without a blade guard to lose. The steel blade runs seven teeth per inch in a medium tooth pattern, which is the sensible middle ground: fast enough through green wood and branches, controlled enough that it does not snatch when you start a cut on a thin limb.
Three sizes are available. The smallest has an 18cm blade on a 21cm handle for pruning and pack carry, the middle a 21cm blade on a 27cm handle for general camp and garden work, and the largest a 24cm blade on a 30cm handle for firewood and heavier branches. The deep gullets clear sawdust rather than packing it, which is what keeps a cut moving instead of binding halfway through.
Good for campsite firewood, bushcraft, hedge and tree pruning, allotment work and general DIY. Fold it closed when you move between cuts, keep fingers behind the line of the blade, and wear gloves when working at height or over your head. Fellmont Outdoors prefers a folding saw over a hatchet for most camp tasks, because it is safer to use when tired and takes far less skill to use well.
