Paracord built to the familiar 550 pattern: a 4mm sheath over seven inner strands, with a stated maximum load of 550lb. The inner strands can be pulled out and used individually as fishing line, thread, snare cord or a boot lace repair, which is why a hank of paracord ends up doing ten jobs on a trip rather than one. The sheath resists abrasion and does not kink when coiled.
Sold in 31 metre, 50 metre and 100 metre lengths across ten colours, from high visibility orange and red through army green, brown, black, blue and several camouflage patterns. Use it for tarp ridgelines and guy lines, tent repairs, lashing gear to a rucksack, hanging a bear bag or food sack, rigging a washing line at camp, or braiding bracelets, lanyards and dog leads.
Seal cut ends with a flame to stop them fraying, and keep lengths pre cut and whipped so you are not hacking at a full hank in the dark. Please note that this is general purpose utility cord, not life safety rope: it should never be used for climbing, abseiling, rescue or anything where a fall is possible. Fellmont Outdoors treats paracord as the one consumable worth restocking before every season.
