Visibility Bright outer colour to assist rescuers
Packed Rolls into the included stuff sack

Product care
Shake it out and let it dry fully before repacking - condensation builds up inside in use. Check it for tears each time you repack it, and replace it if the mylar is split. Keep it in its stuff sack somewhere you can reach without unpacking the whole bag. Keep it away from flames, stoves and hot exhausts; mylar melts. Open and use it once at home so you are not learning how it works in the dark.
Full details

Carry shelter in your pocket with the Fellmont Emergency Survival Bag. This reusable mylar bivvy sack reflects your body heat back to you, helping you stay warm if you are caught out by bad weather, an injury or a breakdown. Unlike a flat foil blanket, you climb inside it, so it holds warmth far better and keeps wind and rain off at the same time.

Made from extra-thick 26 micron mylar, it is tougher than a standard emergency blanket and stands up to being used more than once. It measures 200 x 90cm, fitting most adults, and is fully waterproof and windproof. The bright outer colour helps rescuers and search teams spot you, which matters on an open hillside or at the roadside in poor light. It weighs far less than a spare jacket, so there is no excuse to leave it behind.

There is nothing to set up: pull it from the stuff sack, unroll it and climb in. When you are done, fold it back into the sack and it is ready for next time. Use it as a bivvy, an emergency shelter, a groundsheet or a sleeping bag liner. Every hiker, camper, cyclist, angler and car boot should have one. Order your Fellmont Outdoors survival bag today and be prepared.

Why a bag, not a blanket

A blanket blows away. This does not.

The foil blanket in most first aid kits is almost useless in the conditions that make you need it — in any wind it flaps, and you spend your energy holding it shut. **You get inside this one**, so it traps a layer of still air around you and **reflects your body heat back** instead of letting it leave at the edges.

  • **Full bivvy sack**, not an open sheet
  • **Reflects body heat** back towards you
  • **Windproof and waterproof**, so rain and wind stop at the surface

Built to be used twice

Thicker than the one in your kit.

A standard emergency blanket is around 12 microns and tears the first time you catch it on a boot. At **26 microns** this is roughly twice the thickness, which is what makes it survive being opened, used and folded away again. That matters: kit you can practise with is kit you will actually be able to use in the dark, cold and in a hurry.

  • **26 micron mylar** - about twice a standard foil blanket
  • **Reusable** - open it at home once so you know what you are doing
  • **Rolls back into the supplied stuff sack**

Being found

High visibility is half the job.

If you have stopped moving on a hillside, at the roadside or beside a broken-down bike, **being seen matters as much as being warm**. The bright outer colour reads from a distance and in poor light, and in a search it gives a line of people or a helicopter something to pick out against grass, heather and rock.

  • **Bright outer** - orange, green or red depending on the option
  • **Weighs less than a spare jacket**, so it stays in the pack
  • **Hiking, cycling, fishing, car boots and bug out bags**

It arrived quickly, it's thin, it's like a garbage bag, only it's reflective. Even in the photos, it appears to have a damage like a fingernail mark because of how thin it is. It's for single use in emergencies and can be useful in emergencies. I would order more if it's cheap despite everything; I do recommend it.

  • Antonia Jenkins3 September 2026

This is very thin (like a plastic bag) and looks like a blanket. The size of this item is for a regular body shape and i don't think a person who is overweight can be covered. I believe this is for one-time use, maybe for hiking or during disaster recovery.
Delivered earlier than was promised about a week.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it warm enough to sleep in overnight?
It is emergency shelter, not a sleeping bag. It has no insulation of its own - it works by reflecting your body heat back and stopping wind and rain taking it away, which can make a serious difference if you are stuck out. If you are planning to sleep outdoors, take a sleeping bag. If you are planning for the night that goes wrong, this is what you want in the pack.
Can I really use it more than once?
Yes, and you should. At 26 microns it is roughly twice the thickness of the throwaway foil blanket in a standard first aid kit, so it survives being opened, climbed into and folded away. Use it once at home so you know how it unrolls and how it packs - that is worth more than reading about it.
Will I get wet from condensation inside?
Some, yes - mylar does not breathe, so moisture from your body has nowhere to go. It is a trade most people accept because the alternative is losing heat to the wind. Keep a layer of clothing between you and the surface, and vent the opening a little when you can.
Is 200 x 90cm big enough?
It fits most adults with room to pull the opening over your head. If you are very tall or wearing a bulky winter jacket it will be a snug fit rather than roomy, which is generally what you want for holding heat anyway.
Which colour should I choose?
Pick whichever is brightest against the ground you walk on - orange reads well against grass, heather and snow. The colour choice is about being seen, not about preference, so if you are buying one for a hill pack or a car boot, go for the most visible option.
Can I use it as a groundsheet or shelter instead?
Yes. It is waterproof and windproof, so it works as a groundsheet under a sleeping mat, as a makeshift shelter if you can rig it, or as a liner inside a sleeping bag for extra warmth on a cold night. Using it as a groundsheet does risk punctures, so check the ground first if you want to keep it serviceable.

The product matches the order, it's okay, satisfaction as shown in the photo for checking, and small but charming, not tested.

The size is perfect, average quality. It's a giant garbage bag lined with aluminum. If you find yourself in an emergency and only have this, it will still save your hair. I don't trust it much, but for that price...

I really liked this waterproof emergency sleeping bag. It fits into its own bag and has a whistle on the handle. Ideal to keep in the car for any unexpected situation. When you take it out, the material smells a bit strong, but I suppose it will go away as it airs out. For that price, it's worth having one just in case. I highly recommend it, thank you seller.
