Good material... efficient lamps, SOS button works well, clip for charging, solar panel that can be charged but given the size 😁... USB port and rechargeable battery. Only downside is the radio which isn't super sensitive but living in the countryside... a bit normal. Looks solid.

Can I charge my phone from it?

Yes. The radio has a power bank output that will give a phone a small emergency boost — enough for a call or a message rather than a full recharge. No battery capacity is published for this unit, so treat it as a top-up rather than a replacement for a dedicated power bank.

Will the weather band work in the UK?

The WB band covers 162.4–162.5MHz, which carries NOAA weather broadcasts across the US and Canada. There is no equivalent service on those frequencies in the UK, so British customers should treat AM and FM as the bands they will actually use. Everything else on the radio works the same wherever you are.

How long do I need to turn the crank?

The crank is a last resort for when the battery is flat and there is no sun or mains power. No crank-to-runtime figure is published for this model, so we are not going to quote one. Charge by USB-C or solar wherever you can and keep the handle for emergencies.

Is it waterproof?

It is IPX3, which means splash-resistant. Light rain and spray are fine, so it will keep working on the campsite or in the garden. It is not designed to be submerged or left out in a downpour, so bring it inside overnight.

Should I choose black or red?

The tuning is not very precise but the reception is good. It comes charged and I am surprised by the reading light which is quite practical (it stretches to lengthen and the device stands upright).
