Product care
Trim the sheet slightly smaller than your tent floor - a footprint that sticks out past the fly channels rain underneath you. Check the ground for sharp stones and stubble before pitching; the sheet helps, it does not make the ground safe. Shake it out and let it dry before packing, and fold rather than screwing it up. Wipe it clean with water; no detergent is needed. Store it flat or loosely folded rather than creased hard in the same places every time.
Full details

Protect your tent, extend its life and keep your pack light with the Fellmont Ultralight Waterproof Polycro Tent Footprint. This lightweight groundsheet sits between your shelter and the ground, blocking moisture, mud, grit and sharp stones before they can damage your tent floor. At around 69g, this ultralight tent footprint is the smart choice for hikers, backpackers, bikepackers and wild campers who count every gram but refuse to compromise on protection.

Polycro is the go-to groundsheet material for thru-hikers because it is waterproof, quick-drying and surprisingly puncture-resistant for its weight. Use it as a tent footprint, a waterproof camping tarp, a dry gear mat in your porch, or a lightweight rest mat on damp grass. It folds down to pocket size, wipes clean in seconds and packs away without taking up precious space in your backpack.

Choose the camping groundsheet size that fits your shelter: 220 x 130cm for two-person tents or 220 x 110cm for solo tents, bivvy setups and trekking-pole shelters. Each size comes in packs of 2, 4 or 6, so you can cut sheets to fit, carry a spare on long-distance trails or share with your hiking group. Buy a bigger pack and save. Upgrade your camping gear today and give your tent the protection it deserves with Fellmont Outdoors.

What it protects

The floor is the expensive bit.

A tent fly can be patched; a **worn, pinholed floor** is what quietly ends a tent's life, and it happens through **grit, stubble and sharp stones** rather than anything dramatic. A sheet underneath takes that damage instead, which is why **thru-hikers carry one on a tent they intend to keep**.

  • **Blocks moisture, mud, grit and sharp stones**
  • **Extends the life** of the part you cannot easily repair
  • **1 to 2 person tents, bivvies and trekking-pole shelters**

Why polycro

The thru-hiker's choice, for a reason.

Polycro is the material long-distance walkers settle on because the numbers work: **waterproof, quick-drying and surprisingly puncture-resistant for its weight**. At around **69g** it is a fraction of what a manufacturer's branded footprint weighs, and it **folds to pocket size** rather than taking up a corner of the pack.

  • **Waterproof and quick-drying**
  • **Puncture-resistant** for the weight
  • **Folds pocket-sized**, wipes clean in seconds

Sizing and packs

Cut it to your shelter.

**220 x 130cm** suits two-person tents, **220 x 110cm** solo tents and pole shelters. Packs of **2, 4 or 6** mean you can **trim one to the exact footprint** of your tent — which is what you want, because a sheet that sticks out past the fly **collects rain and channels it underneath you**.

  • **220 x 130cm** for two-person tents
  • **220 x 110cm** for solo and pole shelters
  • **Trim it slightly smaller** than the tent floor

Frequently Asked Questions

Why not just use the manufacturer's footprint?
You can, and it will be cut exactly to shape. It will also weigh several times as much and cost considerably more. Polycro is what long-distance walkers use instead because it does the same job at around 69g. The trade is that you cut it to fit yourself.
Should it be bigger or smaller than my tent?
Slightly smaller, always. A footprint that extends beyond the edge of the fly catches rain running off the tent and funnels it underneath you, which is worse than having no footprint at all. Trim it a couple of centimetres inside the tent floor all round.
How tough is it really?
Tougher than it looks and less tough than a heavy PE tarp - that is the honest middle. It resists punctures well for its weight, which is the whole point, but it is a lightweight sheet. Clear sharp stones and sticks from the pitch rather than relying on it to stop them.
Why do the packs have 2, 4 or 6 sheets?
Because you cut them to fit, and because they are consumable. Having a spare means you can replace one that has been holed on a long trail rather than carrying on with it, and you can cut different shapes for different shelters.
Can I use it for anything other than under a tent?
Plenty of people use one as a porch mat to keep boots and packs off wet ground, as a dry mat for sorting kit, or as a sit mat on damp grass at a break. It also works as a makeshift tarp in a pinch, though it has no eyelets to tie off to.
Will it last a whole season?
That depends entirely on the ground you pitch on. On grass and soft ground a sheet lasts a long time; on gravel and stony pitches it will eventually go through. It is cheap enough to treat as a replaceable item, which is why the multi-packs exist.
